HOW LONG WILL A BANKRUPTCY STAY ON MY CREDIT REPORT?

A bankruptcy case will stay on your credit report for ten years from the date you filed your bankruptcy. Debts discharged in your bankruptcy should be listed on your credit report as having a zero balance. This means that you do not owe anything on the debt. You should check your credit report after your bankruptcy discharge and file a dispute with the credit reporting agency if the information is incorrect. If you don’t correct this it will make it more difficult to get credit.
